Trout Fishing

Trout Fishing in Farmington

The Vermillion River is the largest stream in Dakota County. The river is one of the few places in the southern Twin Cities metro area where people can catch trout. The City of Farmington provides public access to the river within Rambling River Park. Brown and Rainbow Trout are present. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources stock the river with Rainbow Trout each year in the spring.

TroutThe river begins near Elko, travels eastward across much of the central portion of the county until it discharges into the Mississippi River downstream of Hastings. The trout stream portion of the river begins just above Cedar Avenue and ends just downstream of Highway 52 bridge.
