Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) 2007 Award of Excellence The City of Farmington's Green Team received the award for implementing initiatives that promote environmental awareness and responsibility.
The MRPA is an organization that was created in 1937 by and for parks and recreation professionals. Members of MRPA come from municipal, county, state, district, commercial and private agencies. The MRPA Awards Committee was created in 1987 with the purpose of acknowledging individual members and agencies for their excellence in the field of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services. In 2007, there were 22 projects nominated from members across the state of Minnesota and only 13 projects scored high enough to receive this prestigious award. 2007 Green Team members pictured above: (back left to right) Jeremy Pire, Don Hayes and Randy Distad; front; Jen Collova and Lena Larson. The City of Farmington's Green Team received the award for implementing initiatives that promote environmental awareness and responsibility.
The Green Team received the award for efforts to help protect, improve and conserve Minnesota's resources. The award was presented at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s Minnesota Air, Water, and Waste Environmental Conference on February 27, 2008.
